Our practice provides care to all ages via three teams within our practice. The following providers work in the Duke Family Medicine Center.
MELINDA BLAZER, PA-C
Education: MHS, Duke University, Physician Assistant Program, 2007. BA, Colgate University, 2004.
Ms. Blazar joined Duke Family Medicine in October 2007. Her areas of interest include women's health, adolescent medicine, and chronic disease management.
AMY BRANTLEY, PA-C
Education: MHS, Duke University Physician Assistant Program, 2007. MPH, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 2001. Dietitic Internship, Medical University of South Carolina, 2000. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Bachelor Degree in Public Health - Nutrition, 1998.
Ms. Brantley joined Duke Family Medicine in October 2007. Prior to completing the PA program, she worked as a registered dietitian in Wake County and at Duke. Ms. Brantley's interest include preventative medicine and the management of chronic disease.

JOYCE A. COPELAND, MD
Education: MD, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 1975. Family Medicine, Duke-Watts Family Medicine Residency Program, North Carolina, 1975-78.
Dr. Copeland was Medical Director for the Pickens facility before starting a full time faculty role with the Duke Family Medicine Residency in the early '90's. She is involved in teaching residents, medical students and PA students. She was the Medical Director of the Duke PA Program for 17 years. She now serves as the director of Pre-doctoral education for the Department of Community and Family Medicine. She has been instrumental in the development of curriculum in obstetrics, women's health issues, and domestic violence. Dr. Copeland was named the the North Carolina Family Doctor of the Year in 2005.
MARGARET GRADISON, MD, MHS-CL

Dr. Gradison served as Chief of the Division of Family Medicine from 2002 - 2006. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Community and Family Medicine at Duke University. She was Education Director for Duke University Affiliated Physicians, a group of community primary care physicians in Duke owned private practices. She has been involved in teaching medical students, residents, and faculty development workshops. She is currently a Bravewell Fellow in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona in Tucson, and as part of this program she sees patients at Duke Integrative Medicine. Dr. Gradison has recently been named as the Medical Director of the PA Program at Duke.
Dr. Gradison was in private practice in Colorado for nine years, many of those in a rural area of the state, and was Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado, Department of Family Medicine. Before coming to Duke, Dr. Gradison was Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis and Associate Residency Director in 1993-1994. Her special interests include women's health care and adolescent medicine.

Ms. Green-Odlum joined Duke Family Medicine in October 2008. Her clinical interests include adolescent medicine, women's health, sports medicine, preventative medicine and complimentary and alternative medicine.
BRIAN HALSTATER, MD

Dr. Halstater joined the faculty in 2004 and is an Assistant Professor in Community and Family Medicine, and is the Residency Program Training Director. His area of interest is the full scope of the practice of Family Medicine, and the education of both patients and medical learners. He is also fluent in Spanish.
HARRIET HANSELL, MD

Dr Hansell joined the faculty in 2007. Dr. Hansell's clinical interests include Chronic disease management (diabetes, hypertension, asthma), preventative medicine, women's health and medical acupuncture.
LEAL HSIAO, MD
Education: MD, Stanford University Medical School, Stanford, CA, 2006. Family Medicine Residency, Duke Family Medicine, Durham, NC, 2006-2009.
Dr. Hsiao is a Medical Instructor in the Department of Community and Family Medicine. His areas of professional interest include complete care for the entire family including acute problems and chronic disease management, pediatric, adolescent and adult preventive health care.
VICTORIA S. KAPRIELIAN, MD, FAAFP

Dr. Kaprielian is Professor, Vice Chair for Education, and Director of Quality Improvement and Continuing Medical Education for the Department of Community and Family Medicine. She also directs the Intercessions program for the School of Medicine. Dr. Kaprielian has previously directed the Department’s programs in medical student education, faculty development, and Primary Care Sports Medicine.
SUSAN KLECKLEY, MSW, LCSW
Education: MSW, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 1978. BA, Sociology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 1976. ACSW (Academy of Certified Social Workers), 1981. PLCSW (Provisional License in Clinical Social Work), 2002.
Ms. Kleckley is the Social Worker for Duke Family Medicine. Her previous social work experience includes work in children’s protective services, with persons with acquired brain injuries, the Chatham County Council on Aging, and Whitaker School, a residential facility for violent and aggressive adolescents.
Her experience at Duke, prior to Family Medicine, includes temporary assignments in the Inpatient Trauma Unit and at the Duke Outpatient Clinic on Roxboro Road.
DAVID F. LOBACH, MD, PhD
Education: PhD, Duke University Graduate School Department of Microbiology and Immunology, 1986. MD, Duke University School of Medicine, North Carolina, 1987. Internal Medicine, Duke University Medical Center, North Carolina, 1987-90. Endocrinology, Duke University Medical Center, North Carolina, 1990-92.
Dr. Lobach joined the Family Medicine Faculty as a Clinical Associate in September 1992 and is currently an Associate Professor. He sees patients with endocrine conditions weekly on a consultative basis at the Family Medicine Center. Dr. Lobach is Chief of the Division of Clinical Informatics. He has completed a degree in Medical Informatics and does research on the development and evaluation of clinical decision support systems for computer-based patient records.
VIVIANA MARTINEZ-BIANCHI, MD
Education: MD, School of Medical Sciences at the National University Of Rosario, Argentina, 1990. Family Medicine, University of Iowa Family Practice Residency, 1993 - 1996. Chief Resident, 1996.
Dr. Martinez-Bianchi is a Clinical Associate in the Department of Community and Family Medicine and also serves as the Associate Residency Director. She joined the faculty in August 2006, after doing a Faculty Development Fellowship with Emphasis in Caring for Minorities and Underserved Populations at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio. Her professional interests include women's health and health care for minorities and latinos. She is fluent in Spanish.
SARAH MCBANE, PHARMD
Education: PharmD, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill 2003. Pharmacotherapy Residency in Family Medicine, ECU Department of Family Medicine, Greenville, NC.
Dr. McBane is an assistant professor of pharmacy practice at Campbell University and serves as a clinical pharmacist in the Department of Community and Family Medicine. Her role in Family Medicine is divided between teaching responsibilities and patient care. Her interests include chronic disease management within the scope of family medicine, rural health, and geriatric issues.
JOHN RAGSDALE, III, MD
Education: MD, Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine, 2000. Family Medicine Residency, Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, DC, 2000-2003.
Dr. Ragsdale is an Assistant Professor in Community and Family Medicine. He joined the faculty in 2008. Dr. Ragsdale's clinical interests include women's health, low-risk obstetrics and dermatology.
PEGGY ROBINSON, PA-C
Education: BS, Biology, Springfield College, 1973. MS, Microbiology, Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, 1975. MHS, Duke University, Physician Assistant Program, 1992.
Ms. Robinson entered the PA Program after 12 years as a medical mycologist. She joined the Duke PA faculty in 1997. Her educational and clinical interests include: family medicine, population medicine and infectious disease. She is a member of Pi Alpha, the national physician assistant honor society. In November 2006, Ms. Robinson was appointedby Governor Easley to a 3 year term as a member of the North Carolina Medical Board.
VALERIE SCHAFFER, PA-C
Education: MHS, Duke University, Physician Assistant Program, 2000.
Ms. Schaffer joined Duke Family Medicine in 2004. She is a full time faculty member in the Duke University Physician Assistant Program where she coordinates clinical rotations for the students. Her areas of clinical interest include: prevention of disease, diabetes management, pediatrics, women's health, and access to health care.
LORRAINE SEASE, MD, MPH

Dr. Sease joined the Family Medicine faculty in August 2007. Her clinial focus is in Geriatrics and she continues to participate in the Palliative Care Service at Duke.
DEBORAH SHARP-DALE, PA-C

Ms. Sharp-Dale is an experienced physician assistant with 14 plus years of expereience in community and family medicine and emergency care from Los Angeles . She joined Duke Family Medicine in October 2008. She is actively interested in pediatric and adolescent medicine, chronic disease management with holistic approaches to prevention and disease processes, and educating learners.
BARBARA L. SHELINE, MD, MPH

Dr. Sheline joined the faculty in 1990 and is an Associate Professor in Family Medicine. Her interests include problem-based learning, and community medicine. She serves as the Assistant Dean for Primary Care and Chairs the Primary Care Program at Duke Medical School.
KRISTINA SILBERSTEIN, PA-C
Education: MHS, Duke University Medical Center, Physician Assistant Program, 2002.
Ms. Silberstein worked at Lakewood South Family Practice and at UNC's Durham Family Practice before joining the team at Duke Family Medicine Center. She is especially interested in Pediatrics, Adolescent and Women's health and Preventative Medicine. Ms. Silberstein is also committed to improving access to health care for Latino immigrants in North Carolina. She is fluent in Spanish.
JUSTINE STRAND, MPH, PA-C
Education: BHS, Duke University Medical Center, Physician Assistant Program, 1981. MPH, Health Policy and Administration, University of North Carolina 1998.
Ms. Strand has practiced at a migrant clinic in Colorado, overseas in Brazil, in obstetrics and gynecology, public health and family medicine. She has been a member of the faculty of Duke Community and Family Medicine since 1997, and PA Division Chief since 1999. She was a 1995 Public Health Service Primary Care Policy Fellow, and served as Vice Chair of the federal Advisory Committee on Training in Primary Care Medicine and Dentistry from 2000 to 2003. She is a Director-at-Large of the Association of Physician Assistant Programs and President of the North Carolina Medical Society Foundation.
Interests include women's health, chronic disease management, patient education and empowerment, international health, team-based health care delivery, quality improvement and patient safety. Ms. Strand is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.
GLORIA TRUJILLO, MD
Education: MD, George Washington University School of Medicine, 1992. Family Medicine, Fairfax Family Practice Center, Washington, DC, 1992 - 1995.
Dr. Trujillo is a Clinical Associate in the Department of Community and Family Medicine. She currently holds the role of Medical Director of the Family Medicine Center and is actively involved with the residency program. Her areas of professional interests include sports medicine, pediatrics, alternative medicine, and acupuncture. She is fluent in Spanish.
PRISCILLA TU, DO
Education: DO, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, 2005. Family Medicine, Carilion Family Medicine, Roanoke, VA 2005-2008. Fellowship, Duke Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship, 2009.
Dr. Tu is Director of Sports Medicine for Duke Family Medicine, Medical Instructor for Community and Family Medicine, and Medical Team Physician for Duke and North Carolina Central University. Dr. Tu completed a dually-accredited family medicine residency program at Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia, before returning to Duke University to serve as the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellow. Her clinical interests are in non-operative orthopedics and manipulative medicine.
DONNA TUCCERO, MD

WOODY WARBURTON, MD

Dr. Warburton is a Professor in the Department of of Community and Family Medicine. He was past National Medical Director for Quality Management at Aetna and Chief Medical Officer for NylCare, a division of New York Life. He is currently Chief of the Division of Family Medicine. He is active with the North Carolina Institute of Medicine and the American Hospice Foundation. Interests include quality improvement, practice efficiency, chronic disease care, patient satisfaction, and patient safety.
NANCY WEIGLE, MD
Education: MD, George Washington University School of Medicine, 2000. Family Medicine, Lawrence Family Practice, Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, Massachusetts, 2000 - 2003.
Dr. Weigle joined the Family Medicine faculty in September 2007. For the last four years, she practiced in a community health center in Burlington, NC. Interests include the full spectrum of family medicine including prenatal care, chronic disease management, and care for underserved populations. She is fluent in Spanish.
